The Sea Heritage Trust is passionate about veterans issues and is concerned about the recent increasing trend in veteran homelessness.
With increasing living costs and some veterans becoming isolated from society after leaving military service, the board has a plan to help change this trend by using some of the 50 cabins on board the MV Cape Don as veteran crisis accommodation when we are not using the ship for training. During this period the Foundation will work with service providers to assist veterans get back on their feet.
This can then lead into a permanent housing solution built with state-of-the-art technology. Our cost-effective, environmentally sustainable housing solution developed by a specialist contactor uses recycled products reducing our carbon footprint while allowing us to build more units for less providing a cost effective environmentally sustainable solution to our veteran community.
They served us, its our turn to serve them.
